The Green Dot strategy is based on the belief that the greatest power is in the bystander - each one of us. Through our choices, we can define norms and ultimately decide what we will accept and not accept in our community.
Imagine a map of your community covered in red dots, similar to what is commonly portrayed in film and media about virus breakouts. In this case, however, a red dot is any instance of power-based personal violence (partner violence, sexual assault, or child abuse.) We can prevent red dots, with green dots. A green dot is any choice to take action in order to keep someone or the community safe.
Throughout the Green Dot overview, participants will learn realistic ways they can add green dots to the map in order to outnumber the red dots with green, thereby creating safer communities by shifting cultural norms.
