Women's Empowerment & Self Defense

Empower yourself with the "Women's Empowerment & Self Defense" class, led by the experienced Dr. Emily Bonistall Postel. This brand-new 90-minute class, exclusively designed for the Womxn of Tomorrow Foundation, blends traditional classroom-style learning with virtual self-defense training for a unique and empowering experience.

Overview: Join us in this virtual class that combines practical self-defense techniques with insightful discussions on gendered socialization and expectations placed on women. Dr. EBP, who has been actively involved in self-defense since 2005, will guide participants through a transformative journey aimed at fostering empowerment and enhancing personal safety.

Class Structure: Understanding Gendered Socialization: In the first part of the class, we will break down the societal norms and expectations imposed on women, encouraging them to be 'nice,' make themselves 'smaller,' and avoid appearing 'rude.' Through open discussions, participants will explore the impact of such socialization on personal safety and intuition.

Safety Myths and Awareness: Dr. EBP will address safety concerns and dispel common myths, such as those surrounding the use of pepper spray. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and engage in conversations that will enhance their overall safety awareness.

Virtual Self-Defense Training: The second part of the class takes a practical turn, resembling a virtual yoga class where participants will learn actual self-defense moves. Dr. EBP's expertise ensures that these techniques are not only effective but also tailored to empower women in real-life situations.

Outcome: By the end of the class, participants will leave with a newfound sense of empowerment. Armed with knowledge, a stronger voice, and unapologetic commitment to their safety, attendees will feel more capable and in control of their own bodies. Join us in this empowering experience that goes beyond traditional self-defense, fostering a holistic approach to women's empowerment.
